Surprise Proposal Photography

You ask the question. I'll stay out of sight and catch every second of the answer.

You've got the ring and the words. I'll take care of the rest.

I'll help you pick the spot and a time with beautiful light, stay hidden until the moment, then photograph the reaction, the hugs, the happy tears and some relaxed portraits of the two of you afterward. Your partner never sees it coming, and you get the whole story.

Let's keep it between you and me

Your partner can't know I'm there. We plan everything quietly by text or email, I only ever talk to you, and on the day I blend in. There are two ways we can do it.

Option 1: The passerby

Send me a photo of the two of you ahead of time so I know who to look for. On the day, I'm just someone with a camera photographing the view. You walk over and ask if I'd take a picture of you both on your phone. I line up the shot, you take a knee, and I trade your phone for my camera without missing a second.

Option 2: X marks the spot

A few days before, I'll send you a marked-up map of the location with the exact spot to stand and which way to face. I'm already in place when you arrive, looking like anyone else enjoying the day. All you have to do is walk your partner to the mark and ask. No signals, no handoffs, nothing to remember.

Whichever you choose, I'll tell you what I'll be wearing so you can spot me, and you'll have my number in case anything changes on the day.

Questions

How do you keep it a surprise?

There are two ways: you ask me to take your photo as if I were a passerby, or I send you a map with the exact spot marked and you walk your partner to it. Both are explained above. Either way, we plan by text or email and I only ever contact you.

Where should I propose?

Anywhere that means something to the two of you. If you're not sure, I'll suggest a few spots based on the time of year, the light, and how private you'd like it to be. The best spots have a lovely background, a little room around you, and not too many people walking through.

What time of day is best?

Early morning or the hour before sunset. The light is soft and flattering, and there are fewer people around. Florida's midday sun is harsh: it causes squinting, hard shadows under the eyes and a washed-out background. If midday is the only option, we can still make it work, and I'll help you find a spot with good shade.

What could go wrong?

Not much, if we plan it. The three things to watch for:

  • The wrong spot. That's what the marked map is for.
  • Not spotting me. I'll have your photo, and I'll tell you what I'm wearing.
  • Facing the wrong way. Stand side-on to me, not with your back to me, so I can see both of your faces. I'll tell you exactly which way to face.
What should we wear?

Solid colors and soft, natural tones photograph best. Skip busy patterns and big logos. If you want your partner dressed up without giving anything away, a dinner reservation afterward is a good excuse. In the Florida heat, light, breathable fabrics keep you both comfortable.

What if the weather doesn't cooperate?

We'll keep an eye on the forecast together. In summer, afternoon storms are common in Florida, so a morning proposal is often the safer choice. If it isn't safe or it's pouring, we'll move the time or the date.

Will you help us pose afterward?

Yes, lightly. Most people have never had professional photos taken, so I'll guide you where it helps: where to stand, where to look, what to do with your hands. Mostly, though, I want you to enjoy the moment together. The best photos are the real ones.

Can family and friends be there?

Of course. If you'd like people hiding nearby to join in after the question, tell me who's coming and I'll photograph them too.

When will I hear from you about the plan?

We'll work out the plan together after you book. A few days before the proposal, I'll send you a final rundown with the spot, the timing and what I'll be wearing.

Do you travel?

Yes. I'm based in Florida and happy to go wherever you plan to ask. Travel is quoted by location.

When will we get our photos?

Your edited gallery usually arrives within one to three weeks. With the 90-minute package, you'll also get a few sneak peeks the same day, ready to share with everyone you're about to tell.

Do you provide RAW files?

No. Every image you receive is carefully edited. Unedited RAW files aren't included.

Can we share the photos online?

Yes. Your personal-use license covers printing, sharing with family and friends, and posting on your own social media.
